Whether it’s Easter Sunday or a casual evening at home, deviled eggs are the perfect snackable treat to whip up in a jiffy. This crowd-pleasing dish is super easy to make and it’s likely that you already have all of the ingredients in the fridge!
Have you ever tried deviled eggs? How about deviled eggs with relish…and green onions? Well, if this is your first time, then you are in for a real treat.
I grew up eating deviled eggs and I cannot tell you how obsessed I became when my Aunt Lynne would make them for us during the holidays. I love them so much that I’ve even turned my husband on to them, despite his vegan background.
This recipe is ridiculously easy and after years of making them, I think I’ve found the sweet spot. The best part is, no special ingredients are required and, if you already have hard-boiled eggs in the fridge, this will only take 5 minutes!
This post is all about how to make deviled eggs with relish and green onions.

How many to make?
I usually plan for each person to have 4 deviled egg halves which is 2 whole eggs each. So, if I’m serving 10 people, I would boil 20 eggs.
# 10 ppl x 2 whole eggs = 20 eggs to boil
# 10 ppl x 4 halves = 40 of halves needed
**Note, you will need to adjust wet and dry seasonings depending on the number of eggs you’re making. These details are for 10 whole eggs**
Mustard – 1/4 Cup
Is there a specific kind?
I prefer yellow mustard, but you can use what you like. I have not tried this recipe with Dijon but feel free to experiment.
Mayonnaise – 2/3 Cup
Is there a specific kind?
Nope! I’ve even made this with Vegenaise (a vegan alternative) and loved it. This is a great option for anyone who does not like mayo or would prefer a vegan balance. Use what’s in your fridge.
Relish – 3 Tbsp.
Which kind?
This recipe calls for sweet relish, but I’ve used regular and hot dog relish before and didn’t notice a difference. If you try the dill relish, let me know how it works out!
Green Onions – Chopped
Required?
Absolutely not but I’m telling you, this sends the deviled eggs to a new level. Trust me. You’ll want to chop enough to decorate each egg.
Seasonings:
How much of each?
Amount Used:
Paprika = 1 Tbsp.
Pepper = 1 Tbsp.
Salt = 2 tsp (if more is needed, add to your hand first and then sprinkle over mixture lightly)
STEP 1: HALVE ALL EGGS
Cut the eggs in half. Use a sharp knife to get as clean of a cut as possible.
STEP 2: REMOVE EGG YOLKS
The best way to do this is to use your thumbs to slightly peel the sides of the egg white back so that the yolks can fall into the bowl. Sometimes, I nudge the back of the egg with my middle finger to lightly push the yolk out, if needed. Be careful here to prevent breaking the egg white.
Do this until all of the yolks are in one bowl and all of the egg whites are empty on a plate or egg holder.
STEP 3: MASH EGG YOLKS
I like to use a fork for this step. This part is super easy and all you need to do is lay the fork flat on top of each yolk and push in downward motions until they’re mashed into small crumbles.
STEP 4: ADD THE SEASONINGS & MIX
There’s no right or wrong way to do this. Add everything at once and whip it up using the same fork until everything is well combined.
When it’s combined, grab a different fork, and taste the mixture. If it needs help, add more seasonings one at a time and taste in between.
STEP 5: ADD THE MIXTURE TO THE EGGS
You can use a spoon, fork, or piping bag, if desired for style. Don’t worry about making a mistake, you can clean it up with a paper towel.
STEP 6: ADD YOUR FAVORITE TOPPING
I’ve tried several toppings over the years, including different kinds of bacon (vegan + non-vegan), depending on what was in my fridge. My go-to, though, is always green onions. It looks great and it adds that extra bit of oomph to an already smooth bite.
So once the mixture is in the egg, I sprinkle a bit more paprika and then add the green onions.
STEP 7: REFRIGERATE OR ENJOY!
Unless I’m making these for a specific event, these do not last long in my house lol!
If I need to refrigerate them, I place them in an egg container or on a large plate.
Tip for the plate option: Stick toothpicks in the center of each egg to create height. Then, cover the dish with saran wrap or foil and place in the fridge. The height will prevent the covering from touching the mixture and creating a goopy mess.
